A week of hard yakka in the boat yard

Joe was with us for a day and a half after the boat was taken out of the water so he gave Peter a hand for that time. We hired a car for the week which enabled the guys to visit the mandatory ‘boy shops’ ie Bunnings and Super Cheap so they were suitably armed for the big job of sanding and painting the exterior of Family Affair. Unfortunately it was time for Joe to head home (maybe fortunately for him!!)so the bulk of the work was left to the skipper. The end result was good with FA looking lovely and fresh, white and clean. Christine took advantage of having the use of a car to catch some retail therapy, pity about the $80 parking fine!! We were very happy to go back into the water after the week as it was grotty and dirty in the boat yard due to all the work being done on other boats around us. It was not all bad though as we met lovely people from ‘Adagio’ (Peter and Julie) and it was great to have a visit from Murray and Bev who had just sold Catillac and were heading home overland to the west. The Mackay marina is a lovely spot so we were able to enjoy meals at a variety of eating places, coffees and a meal at the yacht club during that week.
